    Welcome to Reception!

     

    Thanks for visiting our Reception Class pages. Reception currently has one class:

    Dragonfly class.

    Class Teacher: Mrs Bennett

    Other adults you will see: Mrs Dean, Mrs Greselle, Miss Roberts and Mrs Mante

     Below you will find information about our Reception class. Please do visit our page regularly, as we will be updating this with photos from our learning.  

    Our weekly and daily plan is heavily influenced by the lines of enquiry that the children are interested in pursuing. 

    Staff are continuously assessing the children, ensuring that every child is gaining the experience and skills that they need, to ensure successful outcomes at the end of the Foundation Stage. 

    A typical day in Reception will look as follows:

     8.40am -   Welcome, registration, weather report, wake & shake

    9.00am -   Phonics and exploring time

    10.15am - Snack and a story

    10.30am - Maths

    10.50am - Exploring time (the children are able to explore purposefully both inside and outside, there are also some adult led activities during this time)

    11.15am - Tidy up time and getting ready for lunch

    11.30am - Lunchtime

    12.30pm - Registration and group time (these group times cover English, topic, music and a weekly session devoted to Personal, Social and Emotional Development with elements of mindfulness included called Jigsaw)

    1.00pm - Exploring time

    2.00pm- Carpet time

    2.15pm- Exploring time

    2.50pm - Tidy up time

    3.00pm - Carpet time

    3.25pm - Home time

    There will be daily phonic sessions. The children are encouraged to use their phonic knowledge and developing writing skills throughout the day by writing signs, labels, booklets, cards, instructions etc.

    Dragonfly class will have PE on Wednesdays. Please make sure you come to school dressed in your PE kit on that day. 

    Dragonfly class will have mud kitchen on Tuesdays. Please make sure your child has their wellies and puddle suit (or waterproof jacket and trousers) at school on these days.
