Term 2- Marvellous machines

Our term

This term we have been very busy. Our main topic was called ‘Marvellous Machines’ and we learned all about a wide range of machines. We investigated why machines are used, how they work and even made our own marvellous machines- robots! Later in the term, we moved on to our mini topic ‘Puppets and pop ups’. We learned about a range of puppets and pop ups and used this information to design and create our own.

In English, we looked at the story ‘On Sudden Hill’ by Benji Davies. We explored the theme of friendship, used role play to explore thoughts and feelings, explored descriptive vocabulary and also how to use boxes in our own imaginary play.

In maths, we learned about the numbers 1 to 5. We explored how to represent them in different ways, how to recognise them by sight and also learned about the parts that make the whole number. We also looked at 2D shapes. We learned about the names and features of key shapes and searched for them in our school environment.

In PE, we have been exploring how to control our body in different ways and with greater control and precision.

Our greatest achievement this term was our performance of 'A king is born'. We did a fantastic job of learning songs, lines from a script, stage directions and projecting our voices. We made all of our teachers and grown ups very proud!
