Maths

Autumn Term

This half term we have been learning all about place value within 10 and began our first unit on addition and subtraction within 10. We have used lots of resources to explore these ideas which you can see in our pictures.

Throughout this term we finished learning about addition and subtraction within 10. We practised writing number sentences and exploring fact families.
We have also completed a topic on shape and patterns which we really enjoyed.

Spring Term

We have learnt so much throughout spring term in maths. We started by developing a strong understanding of numbers to 20 before applying this to addition and subtraction.

Next, we looked at numbers to 50! Did you know we can count to 50 forwards and backwards?  We focused on partitioning our numbers into tens and ones and then making them with base ten.

Finally, we explored length, height and mass and volume. We used rulers to measure lots of classroom objects in centimetres and then compared their weight to cubes. We loved used the scales to see which objects had the greatest mass.

Summer Term

we have begun summer term by looking at multiplication and division. We have learnt to count in 2s, 5s and in 10s. We looked at making arrays and sharing objects into equal groups. This topic challenged us but we did not give up!
